How much space do you need? Do you require any other features?

Are there any other features/specs you need? I can tell you it will
be very difficult to find a host without a unique IP for under $40.00
a year that is very much more than about 5MB of space and nothing
else. You are talking less than $3.50 a month. I can give you some
recommendations for under $100 a year that will give unique IPs.

Cheapest I can find with unique IP is $95 a year.. any use?
Spec is fairly basic as well, for a small site.

I prefer having perl or asp (either will work) but it's not necessary.
More bandwith is preferred to more space, but doesn't really matter.
Don't worry about the specs, I just want the unique IP.
I really don't want to use the site for an actual website, but for
search engine spiders which is why I don't want to spend money on it
but want a unique IP. Thanks.

Are you willing to accept host for $75 (roughly $6.00/month) that offer static IP?

Um....$75 is pushing it...I think really I'd prefer something lower.
By static IP do you mean UNIQUE IP? Thanks.

Hi there,

I did a similar search awhile ago for my own purposes. From your
question and clarification it sounds like you are not in need of an
entire dedicated *server*, which would indeed cost you a pretty penny,
but simply a unique / dedicated IP address to be used mainly for
marketing purposes.

I can offer you two solutions:

Option 1:
FeaturePrice.com
http://www.featureprice.com/?c=2&p=1

Pros: Dedicated IP plans range from $4.95 - $16.95 and all support
Perl. Starter plan has 50MB of disk space. 24/7 telephone tech
support.

Cons: There appears to be no specific traffic-cap figure for the
amount of data transfer allowed, but Feature Price also doesn't
pro-actively monitor your traffic: You only get capped if it seems
like you're risking uptime for other people. However, if you're
running in the high gigabytes, Feature Price recommends you go
somewhere else.

Note: FeaturePrice was recommended by Webmonkey.com in their article
'Web Hosting for Under Ten Bucks':
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/02/01/index4a_page6.html?tw=design

Option 2:
DigitalSpace.net
http://www.digitalspace.net

Pros: Plans range from $3 - $99.95 a month and offer permanent IP
addresses: “each account is given a permanent IP address. This means
you will have an IP address that is only used for your domain name.
This is important for search engine placement and insuring everyone
can properly visit your website.” Their $24.95 a month plan offers 8
GB of monthly bandwidth and may be ideal for your needs. Perl is
supported in all plans.

Cons: Limited storage space starts at low as 10MB. You will be
upgraded to the next highest package if bandwidth usage goes over your
limit.

Note: I personally am on their $3 a month service and have had no
problems with them since signing up with them over a year ago. I also
found their Live Help online feature to be convenient to use.

web monkey web hosting

I would have to say that it will be pretty difficult to get this, as
the ICANN organization that is in charge of handing out ip addresses
is not being as forthcoming in responding to requests as they used to
be. Thus, isps do not want to give out more ips than they have to.
Generally, a web host has one ip address per server these days, and it
is next to impossible to get a dedicated server for $40 a year. That
said, I hope other researchers can find the improbable, and help you
find the web host you seek.

Hi xemion-ga

Well that hosting company didn't come back to me on confirmation of
the IP numbers, though I emailed them twice. First time the answer was
still vague, and second time no response. I just checked their site
again and they have updated the info (and prices)... which probably
explains they non reply.

Anyway.. the IP's are still cheap (if you are using a lot) that is if
they can 100% verify it! (as it still sounds too good, even with the
higher prices!)
Prohosters Virtual Custom solutions
http://prohosters.com/packages/custom/customized_virtual.htm

It says "All plans come with unlimited subdomains* - *Note - unique
IP's provided with justification" at the bottom of the table.
The cheapest plan is the 500mb one at $15 a month for unlimited IP
numbers. The reason why I originally said 100 IP numbers was drawn
from their FAQ:
http://prohosters.com/help/faq_domains.htm#09
"9.) How many unique IPs can I use?
According to the hosting package you choose, you will have anywhere
from 100 to unlimited free unique IPs available. [ so I assumed the
cheapest plan would be limited to 100 IP numbers ] Should you chose a
hosting package that limits the number of IPs to 100, and should you
need a larger number, you can request extra IP#'s for a one time setup
fee of $1.00 per extra unique IP [ still not a bad price ]. Please
note that IPs are not given out to be used for any other purposes
beyond webhosting. Each IP will be assigned to domains or subdomains
you request hosted on a unique IP."

So your $15 a month gets you 500mb of virtual server webspace which
you can host unlimited domains with (in worse case scenerio) 'only'
100 IP numbers

I hope that helps... if a little late.

kind regards
lot-ga

Hello xemion-ga

no probs :-)
A one time setup fee of $1.00 per extra unique IP on your unlimited
domains can't be bad ;-)

Though it is the cost of the domain name that is attached to that IP
that is the expensive thing now, unless you can create sub-domains for
each unique IP. e.g.
keyword1.myname.com
keyword2.myname.com
keyword3.myname.com

all the best

Hi xemion-ga

I ran into this provider Kansas Technology
$1 a month gets you 100mb and dedicated IP,
http://kansastechnology.com/hosting.html
I did a check on their IP and the IP belongs to
RackShack from whom they presumably purchase their bandwidth and host
their server.
http://rackshack.net

The 'Acceptable Use' policy is very stringent, but for your search
engine optimisation/visiblity needs, it shouldn't pose any problem
http://kansastechnology.com/acceptable_use_policy__the_inter.htm
