We're a law firm in New York City looking to branch out in liability
insurance defense (auto accidents, no fault defense, subrigation)
Where and when are the conventions where insurance companies meet and
greet?

2)Who are, by names and titles in insurance companis, are the people
to contact who control the work? (NYS Insurance department has a web
site for the companies names, thanks. I know.)

3) Bonus Question. How do we get the RFP for 50h work from the city?
(City hs a web site, and a toll free number which is automated. This
gets you nothing of use! Hello, Mayor Blumberg!!) What type of
experience does the city look for in attorneys who do 50h work, and
how much was the city
paying on the 2002 contract for 50h work? (Again, FOIL requests have
turned up little useful information.)

Contacts at the insurance companies are a sticky issue. There is no
one job title that will cover this. In effect, what you seek is the
name of an executive or group of executives at hundreds of companies
that perform a certain service.

That would take hours of phone calling, and probably wouldn't net
much. How satisfied would you be if I could answer questions 1 and 3,
but skipped 2?

It does appear that all the insurance companies we have contacted so
far, have different titles for the people that determine outside
providers (and certainly, nepotism appears to be prevalent, I believe
a start is a start. Off the top of my head, 2/3 satisfied, I guess.
And certainly a bonus would be due for any successful leads......

Understood. Thanks for the additional info. The job looks doable.
Real-life responsibilities will crimp my time over the next couple of
days, but if another researcher hasn't taken care of you by then, I'll
take a crack at it.
