On the defunct show Millenium (I think NBC). There was a song that
was sung that used the word "blue" in it continuously. The show was
focused on a woman that captured and tortured to death her male
captives. During the entire ordeal, they played the "blue" song
continuously. For some unknown reason, that song sticks in my head.
I would like to find out the name of this song and the artist.

The song is "Love is Blue," by Paul Mauriat.

Here's an instrumental clip from "Love is Blue" that you can listen to
online:

Here are the lyrics, in English:

And the original lyrics, in French:

Le Parolier

Here you can buy "Love Is Blue," along with other Paul Mauriat hits,
on CD:

My search strategy was made simple by the fact that I remembered the
episode, and the song, quite vividly. Indeed, I will probably never
again be able to listen to this song without thinking of "Millennium."

These Google links will take you to many sites and newsgroups which
mention the song:

Google Web Search: "millennium" + "love is blue" + "a room with no
view"

Google Groups Search: "millennium" + "love is blue" + "a room with no
view"

I hope this information is useful. If anything more is needed, please

further assistance.

Excellent job by the way. One question (if you don't want to answer
it, that's fine), what version of the song did they use? Most of the
Mauriat versions are instrumental. One is in french with some english
monologue. But the one they used in the show sounded Brit.

Sincerely,

John

I'll check around to see whether I can determine which version of
"Love Is Blue" was used in "Millennium." If I find any definitive
information, I'll post it for you.

I sent emails to ten friends who are fans of "Millennium," asking for
their views regarding which version of "Love Is Blue" was used in the
show.

Here's the tally of responses:

1 says it was a '70s cover version by Johnny Mathis.

1 says it was Engelbert Humperdinck.

1 says it was Andy Williams.

3 say it was one of the original '60s versions by Paul Mauriat.

4 say they are not sure who sang the song, but they wish "Millennium"
would be rerun in its entirety (you can add me to this group.)

This is not exactly a definitive answer, but I thought I would pass it
along. Most of the newsgroup posts I've seen attribute the song to
Paul Mauriat, but they don't specify which Paul Mauriat version
(Mauriat produced several, including his own disco remix.)
