Data were collected to find the relationship between the time(y in hours) taken to produce a batch of wood products and the size (x) of the batch produced. The following regression equation was calculated from the data: y = 13.7 + 1.7x What is the predicted amount of time in hours required to produce a batch size of 40? (please show your calcualtions; please) |

Hello, Because of the way the problem is worded, you have the only calculation necessary right in front of you. The equation you have describes the relationship between the batch size and time needed to produce it. To help you understand the equation more, let me rewrite it in words. The amount of time it takes to produce a certain batch is equal to 13.7 hours plus 1.7 times the size of the batch. Since you have the batch size, it becomes a simple matter of substituting 40 for x. Y is your answer in number of hours. So... 1)y = 13.7 + 1.7x 2)y = 13.7 + 1.7(40) 3)y = 13.7 + 68 4)y = 81.7 It will take 81.7 hours to produce a batch of 40 wood products. I hope I helped you to understand this problem. skermit-ga | |
