I would like to design some cover art for a book ... and I am going to
try to do it myself. (Nothing too ambitious).

It should also double as a logo for a website.

Please point me at a graphics program (I am no great shakes as an
artist)

Regards

Bryan

Hello again

I don't know if you've seen my website, but I've done all the graphics
there (including book covers) myself ( and I'm definitely no artist!)
using Paint Shop Pro. (cost $99.00 , free to try out)

The download site listed below will let you get a shareware copy on a
30 day trial.
Paint Shop Pro download site

Its a -VERY- big download, somewhere around 30MB , so only do it if
your modem will stand up to it, and you've got a couple of hours spare
:)

Otherwise, most of the personal computer mags on the shelves carry
free CD giveaways of software, and PSP is a popular one to find on the
CDs (That's where I got my copy)

(And even if you can't find PSP, there's usually something similar on
the shelves.....I've gone through a lot of different ones. I settled
on PSP because I like it's interface and ease of use, but for a
beginner there's not a lot to choose between them.)

If you want something -FREE- you can download one here - the user
interface isn't as nice as PSP above, and it's prone to hang on really
big images, but it'll do most jobs that an amateur like me can dream
up. Also, it's a much smaller download file, so if time is a factor,
it might be the one to go for.

As I said, there are many packages available. If you search around in
Download.com, you'll find hundreds that you can download and play
around with. But PSP is hard to beat for a novice.

Thanks Willie ... I'd already seen your site.

I've already got PSP so now I'll give it a whirl.
