Question ID: 104699
The website is http://www.MyAdventureGame.com

As you can see, the price on this question is $2.00, so I'm not
expecting a whole not. We just worked on a new front-page, so I
thought I'd get your Two Cents (well, bucks). Basically,
I'm interested in knowing ...

 - do you understand what the site is about just from the Front page?
 - what do you think of the Logo guy?
 - what do you think of the look and feel of the site?
 - can you offer any quick suggestions ?

For more information, you can contact me by using the "Contact Us"
link on the bottom of the pages MyAdventureGame.com.

Thanks in advance !
Alex

Hello,

I love these "review my website" questions, there never seems to be a
wrong answer, and it's always fun to read new websites. I'll go over
the questions you mentioned, and then I'll put in a couple general
things that I thought of.

1 - do you understand what the site is about just from the Front page?
Yeah, from the little blurb in the top right, it makes the website
mission statement pretty clear, "the source for playing, creating, and
sharing choose your own adventure style games". I notice another
little part about a $100 contest, and that actually caught my eye
first, which was appealing.

2 - what do you think of the Logo guy?
It's got a nice funky retro 80's video game look to it, and the money
and trophy help to emphasize the $100 contest. I like him.

3 - what do you think of the look and feel of the site?
I don't know if you meant to have the "Sub-Banner Text Here" at the
top when you click on FAQ but I'm guessing probably not. You should
edit that out. Other than that the FAQ is very helpful. I do have one
gripe, I run my resolution at 1024x768, and you have the margins
hardcoded for what seems to be an 800x600 screen. As such, the text
and graphics take up the middle 50% of the screen and either side
(25%) is just whitespace which looks wasted and gives the impression
that the website is squished. I like the logo guy dressed up in
different costumes to represent the different game genres, very nice
touch.

4 - can you offer any quick suggestions ?
Yeah, consider using a freeware bbs for the forum such as phpBB or
buying uBB, they're more professional looking and easier to use and
moderate than the post-board style messageboard that you're using.
I'll provide links to both below. Other than that, I played some of
the games, and it reminded me of all those old
choose-your-own-adventure books growing up. Nice site and keep up the
good work!

"...and sharing choose your own adventure style games!." needs to be
written: "...and sharing choose-your-own-adventure-style games!" It
is difficult to understand without the hyphens, and you don't need the
period after the exclamation. It still looks a little clumsy with the
hyphen between "adventure" and "style" so maybe you could use quotes,
like this: "...and sharing "choose-your-own-adventure"-style games.
