I tried 500-1000 mg DL-phenylalanine per day during about a week and I
felt great during the day!
More motivated, better mood.

Downside is that I slept 12h+ when going on it.

I fear it has to do with phenylalanine also increasing adrenaline
production.
Theory: Adrenaline is produced in greater amounts and the body feels
it has to "get rested" from a "fight-or-flight" period of stress and
thus you sleep more.

If this line of thought has any value, can I reduce this side effect
somehow?
Is this common among people taking phenylalanine?

I do remember that I became a bit "jittery" and "hyper" as one would
be from stress, but also that mood was better. Those two feelings were
quite distinct and in different "layers" of my whole conscious
experience.

An acceptable answer should show knowledge of the way phenylalanine
works as a precursor to tyrosine------>....>---->dopamine, as well as
adrenaline.

Simply answering that a B vitamin complex reduces stress, is not
acceptable.
Furthermore, I've already tried pregnenolone as to reduce stress, but
it in turn made me sleep more.

I'm 21 years old.

Why do you feel the need to take any drugs at all? Have you been
diagnosed with a medical condition that you are attempting to treat?
Have you tried less invasive methods such as sleeping more or
exercising to improve mood and energy? Could you briefly describe
your lifestyle and diet? Are there any other reasons you can think of
which would cause you to have abnormally low levels of this or other
amino acids?

I am sorry but I am not looking for a moral debate over drugs, legal
or not.

I have tried exercise and it's great! Those endorphine highs are
wonderful, along with improved energy.

What I'm looking for is a researcher that is knowledgable in Smart
Drugs/supplements.

Anyone felt a difference between tyrosine/phenylalanine?

And you won't find one here. It's important to know what problems you
perceive and what effect you are trying to achieve. So far all I have
to go on is a feeling that you're unsatisfied and want to feel "more
energetic" whatever that means. Can you provide any more detail on
this matter?

Are you looking then for anecdotal evidence or scientific evidence?
You started out with a specific dosage, indicating a scientific
preference, but now you seem to be soliciting anecdotes.
