I tried 500-1000 mg DL-phenylalanine per day during about a week and I
felt great during the day!
More motivated, better mood.
Downside is that I slept 12h+ when going on it.
I fear it has to do with phenylalanine also increasing adrenaline
production.
Theory: Adrenaline is produced in greater amounts and the body feels
it has to "get rested" from a "fight-or-flight" period of stress and
thus you sleep more.
If this line of thought has any value, can I reduce this side effect
somehow?
Is this common among people taking phenylalanine?
I do remember that I became a bit "jittery" and "hyper" as one would
be from stress, but also that mood was better. Those two feelings were
quite distinct and in different "layers" of my whole conscious
experience.
An acceptable answer should show knowledge of the way phenylalanine
works as a precursor to tyrosine------>....>---->dopamine, as well as
adrenaline.
Simply answering that a B vitamin complex reduces stress, is not
acceptable.
Furthermore, I've already tried pregnenolone as to reduce stress, but
it in turn made me sleep more.
