Hello sylvester-ga,
Thank you for your question. Sorry to hear about your problems with
your current shopping cart provider. I saw your previous question and
am aware of your situation. From my experience, 2CheckOut.com and
PayPal have an excellent track record, and they provide the services
you are looking for - namely, payment handling and shopping cart
services. All transactions are handled securely using SSL (the https
protocol). You do not need to set up a merchant account since they
will play that role for you. Their shopping cart systems are very easy
to set up and will easily "plug in" to your existing website. Here are
more details on each :

PayPal - Creating a Dynamic Storefront Using the PayPal Shopping Cart
http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/pdn/article_pdn_storefront-outside
"The PayPal Shopping Cart technology allows developers to easily
create E-Commerce for their clients without many of the hassles
associated with traditional shopping carts, such as, Credit Card
Merchant Accounts, costly setup fees, design inflexibility, and many
other headaches a developer can run into when developing a simple web
store system for a client. The PayPal system is based on a form driven
questionnaire that asks the merchant specific information about a
product they would like to sell such as, the product name, the price,
product ID and more. After completing the form and submitting it, the
PayPal system generates a simple piece of code for developers to
insert into their pages and the product is then available to purchase
without any further modification."

Hi sylvester-ga,
Sorry to hear about 2Checkout's response. As for PayPal, I want to ask
you - what kind of programming resources do you have? i.e. are you a
programmer or do you have any programmers working for you? Because
even though you need to set up a separate account with PayPal, all you
need to do is to populate their signup form with personal data from
your database, so the process is quite seamless and hassle-free. There
are technical manuals on their site on how to do this, and most
programmers will find it a straightforward process. So for your
customers it's pretty much a one-time registration on your site, and
then a pre-populated PayPal registration form with minimum hassle.
Keep in mind that there is a sacrifice you have to pay for not having
your own merchant account. In this case, since PayPal is playing that
role for you, your customers have to sign up with them too. As far as
I am aware, this is the best tradeoff available.
In any case let me know if this is workable, if not, then let me know
and I'll see what else I can find. Let me know!

Hi sylvester-ga,
Wow! Congratulations that 2CheckOut has accepted your site. I took a
look at your site, and went to the Order Now (no.6) link. I found 3
buttons, Save Changes, Continue Shopping, and Save & Check Out. The
first two don't seem to work, and could be redundant - you might want
to have them removed. When I click on Save Changes, it says I have no
items in my cart, even with the default "1" item in the cart. When I
click on Continue Shopping, the internal frame loads up the menu, so
in effect I see the left menu twice surrounding a blank page. It only
works when I click on the 3rd button, Save & Check Out. Everything
else looks good from that point on. Hope your business is doing well!
