Despite the hype about the branding power of email, I've been unable
to find stories about B2B services (executive recruiting,
accounting, software integration, etc.) that are actually increasing
revenues, profits, ROIs, etc. by consistently emailing their
customers.

I can find a few stories about successful email "advertising"
programs, so please allow me to differentiate: I'm defining "branding"
programs as long-term newsletter-oriented relationship building
programs that aren't focused on inducements to order now.
"Advertising" programs, on the other hand, I'm defining as short-term
programs designed to generate immediate dollars.

Can you please find me 5 stories about B2B services that are actually
improving the bottom line through email branding?

Dr. Y --

I'm familiar with a couple of businesses which have started around a
newsletter business and built from there. Would you want those
included or do you want something that was a running business -- and
the e-mail newsletter simply added a dimension to its marketing.

Best regards,

Omnivorous-GA

Thanks for your request. If I understand correctly, you're familiar
with e-newsletter publishers that may have clients with the success
stories I seek. I'm interested as long as they name specific B2B
service clients and the bottom line benefits they are receiving.

Thanks again. Peace,

Hi Doctoryes:

The best source that I know of for case studies of successful B2B
marketing campaigns, including the use of email for lead generation,
branding, and up-selling, is the B2BMarketingBiz newsletter published
by MarketingSherpa, available at http://www.marketingsherpa.com.

If you go to the MarketingSherpa site, at the bottom of the home page
is a search function, where you can seek out and read previously
published case studies.

Hi Doctor Yes,

I won't post this as an answer, since it would be
self-serving. But let me give you a few people and sites
that do exactly what you describe - offer free daily or
weekly newsletters, and whose names/brands are household
words within their market niche and generate solid loyalty
and substantial referrals of new clients - worldwide:

Rob Frankel - http://robfrankel.com - the Branding maven, himself.
Take a look at his daily, FrankelBees list - http://www.frankelbiz.com/
Generates clients, advertising revenues and book sales

Eva Rosenberg - I-HelpDesk and WebReview
    http://www.adventive.com/lists/ihelpdesk/summary.html Daily, or MWF,
    and Ask TaxMama Fridays
    http://taxmama.com/AskTaxMama/
generates tax clents, speaking engagements and remarkable loyalty.

Allan Gardyne - AssociatePrograms - the Guru of Internet Affinity Program
     http://AssociatePrograms.com
He sells nothing himself, just provides a directory with good information
about affiliate programs. Everyone in the industry starts there, despite
there being a dozen others in the same market

Shel Horowitz - the king of frugal marketing and living
     http://frugalfun.com
His free monthly newsletters and regular posts to newsgroups, his books
and his personal style have established him as the expert of frugality.

And one of my favorite brands -

Rebecca Hines - That Nice Computer Lady

oops. I hit the wrong key

Rebecca Hines - That Nice Computer Lady
        http://www.thatnicecomputerlady.com/
with a name like that, I don't even have to tell you what she does.

So, yes, the strategy works.
