Hello Hopefully this is the guy you are looking for. The person is Gray Davis and the job is Governor of California Governor Gray Davis is the 37th governor to be elected by the people of California since California became a state in 1850. Here is a quote from "The Governor's Office website at: The Governor's Chair ( http://www.governor.ca.gov/govsite/vofficetour/stat_chair.htm ) "Governor Davis is actually the 65th person to hold the office of California governor. This is because from 1767 1849 there were 28 appointed Spanish, Mexican and military governors of California. The very first governor of California was Don Gaspar de Portolá. The King of Spain appointed him in 1767. The first governor of California to be elected to the office was Peter H. Burnett in 1849." Hope that answers your question, but if you need any clarification, just ask. willie-ga Google search used "65th person" |
