Hello,
Below is a link published in February 2002 to a news article in Media
Life Magazine that includes significant and reputable analysis of
traffic to online gambling sites. The news article is based on a study
conducted by Jupiter Media Metrix/Ad Relevance - a very reputable
online statistics measurement firm across many categories - including
online gambling conducted in December 2001.
The link below lists the Top 15 Online Gambling Sites as of December
2001 that includes the following information:
+ Site name
+ Total unique visitors
+ Total usage minutes by all visitors
+ Average minutes spent by each visitor
In addition, this page contains a list of the top online casino
advertisers with the following information:
+ Name of advertiser
+ Share of casino market impressions
+ Their rank (when the study was conducted)
Among the statistics referenced by the article in the online gambling
study are the following (pulled directly from this source):
+ Gambling sites attracted an estimated 13.6 million unique visitors
in December 2001.
+ Thirteen percent of online gamblers have households incomes of less
than $25,000 a year, as compared to 11 percent of all internet users.
+ Women gamblers outnumber men by a slight margin.
+ Thirty-six percent of visitors to online casinos are men ages 25 to
54, and 37 percent of visitors are women in the same age range.
+ Fifty-five percent of online gamblers are childless.
+ Some 10.7 million people visited gambling sites from home in
December and 3.9 million visited from work.
+ During December 2001 Internet gamblers whiled away 274 million
minutes on casino sites, an average of 20.2 minutes per month per
person.

I would recommend contacting Jupiter Media Metrix/Ad Relevance and
subscribing to their online gambling site measurement study, for their
upcoming research study in 2003. Until then, I have provided a number

Fresh data from "November, 2002"? Today is November 11th, 2002???
I have worked in the market research field for quite a few years, and
would strongly caution you on the validity of any "fresh data" from a
study that was designed, polled, collected, analyzed and distributed
for public consumption **in the past ten days.** The data in the
Jupiter Media Metrix/Ad Relevance market research study above was
published only eight months ago. It takes time to conduct a reputable
research study, and a ten day turnaround time seems an impossible
feat, even for a major research house like Jupiter Media Metrix/Ad
Relevance. I'm tempted to ask for the source of the information you
have collected, but will respect your due diligence.
For the record, Jupiter Media Metrix/Ad Relevance is one of the
leaders - if not the leader - in online market research studies, and
no information on a more recent 2002 study on online gambling (more
recent than February 2002) from them is publicly available for
consumption on the Internet.
I would be careful about sourcing any November 2002 data you may have
obtained and urge you to consider the data provided above for
comparative purposes, if not as your primary source, if for no other
reason than many news sources have publicly referenced this study
already (in line with your request) and it is reputable information
that is available online.
