Question ID: 105636
looking to buy a notebook computer.
1. uxga display.
2. 40 or 60 gig hard drive. something that can be removed.
3. video memory NOT shared. i am using a viao grx690 that uses shared
memory and it really slows it down.
4. I don't mind buying from a private vender.
5. I am going to be using this for music and video editing and
therefore it needs to be fast.
I don't care if it is big or heavy.
6. ram upgradeable to 1 gig or higher (if it comes with 512 then
hopefully they means there is one 512 memory otherwise if there are
two 256 then i have to replace those with two 512 and spend more money
than just adding on 512)
7. DVD-r burner would be nice but not necessary.
8. I want something really fast that is a true desktop replacement.

I am in a huge hurry so answer ASAP.
Something that ships within a day or two of ordering.

Of the systems you gave me, ever but 1 didn’t match the criteria I had
set forth. Did you read my question? You have wasted my time. I am
more than a little upset. There is no reason to have a follow up
question as you have shown yourself to be a total incompetent.

word about the memory if it is shared or not. I have a phone number

Cheaptrinkets,

I apologize for what you feel was a waste of your time. And while you
feel I am incompotent and you stated that no response was necessary, I
feel that I do owe you a clarification. If, after this clarification
you do not feel that I have answered your question to your standards,
please feel free to request a refund or repost your question in
conjunction with https://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html

I have several other models that I know meet your specifications.
However, I would like to clarify some things regarding the models I
posted and your responses:

Toshiba Pro 6100
The video memory is not shared. You can see in the spec sheet at
toshiba website. Note, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view
this:

http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellitepro_6100.pdf

Also, I placed a link to the 256MB version. The 512MB version can be
found:
http://www.nextag.com/Toshiba_SAT_PRO_6100~55153395z3znz300711zz1z300711zzmainz2-htm

Here are additional models that meet your specifications:

Toshiba Satellite 5105-S701
http://www.notebookshop.com/store/Product1.asp?Product_id=49

Mtech 5600
http://www.m-techlaptops.com/specifications/mtech5600.htm

You can configure the model with UXGA and additional memory, etc at:
http://www.discountpcsales.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=MTECH5600

Dell Inspiron 8200
http://www.dell.com/us/en/dhs/products/model_inspn_1_inspn_8200.htm
You can cutomize the options

Compaq Evo 800Nw

I again apologize for the incorrect information posted in my original
answer. I hope the above better meet your original request.

I have the Dell Inspiron 8200. Available options include a UXGA 15"
screen, up to 64 MB of DEDICATED video memory, and I think, though I'm
not positive, that it can support up to 1GB of DDR RAM. It is
available with a 5400RPM hard drive (which is good for music/video
recording/editing; regular laptop hard drives are slower). This is
Dell's top laptop. It is big and heavy, but it's meant to be a
desktop replacement. I think some of the Sony Vaios should also meet
your criteria.

I don't know if you can get it to ship within a day or two, though.
