250 seems like it's going to be a tough find :-) I was able to locate
a site in french, with at least 100 of the top paintings sold. If this
would interest you, let me know and I'll offer it as an answer.

Thanks,

SgtCory

thankyou for looking, but i think i already saw that. My primary
concern is to find landmark american art auction sales in the past 100
years. please respond, however, if you viewed a different site.

Hello again,

The site is written in French, but lists the paintings in English.
Here you go:

http://www.search-antiques.com/fr/revue-art/2001/4eme-trimestre-2001/artistes-peintres/index1.html

Let me know if this is along the lines of your needs.

Thanks,
SgtCory

I should have stated the listings are in a mix of both -
'English/French'. Sorry about the confusion.
