Hello,

Is the commercial you are referring to a Wachovia Bank commercial with
a motorcycle in it, or is it advertising a brand or model of handlebar
called "wachovia"? (I hope this isn't a stupid question, I just
wasn't clear about what was actually being advertised in the
commercial.)

Could you include some links to the information you found about the
commercials to give us a place to start?

Thanks,
bikerman-ga

Hi
the ad is for wachovia bank and its about financial awareness i found
the links to the campaign by looking for 'wachovia ad campaign' on

Hello, again.

I was unable to find any information on the web, but have contacted
Mullen and am waiting on a response. If the folks at Mullen are able
to tell me the make/model of bike, will that suffice as an answer? I
could also probably find pictures of that model bike if you'd like,
just not from the ad itself.

Thanks,
bikerman-ga

I found a video clip which may possibly (though not probably) be a
clip of said commercial. However, due to technical difficulties, I am
unable to view the clip at this time. I'll try again later this
morning and let you know.

Thanks for your patience,
bikerman-ga
PS:
Please respond to my previous request for clarification in case this
lead falls through. Thanks.

The year make and model of the bike would suffice as an answer.
Pictures would definitely be a help too. Thanks for your efforts. if
you could post the link i could try to view it as i have some
knowledge in the field of streaming video. Since i could not identify
the bike in the first place this would not interfere with your efforts
to answer the question. once again thanks for your efforts and
patience.

Hi,

I was able to view the video late this morning, but unfortunately it
wasn't relevant (it was an add for Wachovia, but not the one in
question).

I didn't hear back from Mullen today, so I may try to call them on the
phone tomorrow--or I may email them again. The name of the campaign
appears to be "Uncommon Wisdom," and there were also some print ads
(though I don't know if there were any ads with the motorcycle in them
in print). I searched online archives of various business journals,
but to no avail. I think Mullen is our best lead because it seems to
me like they would keep a record of such things.
Thanks,
bikerman-ga

Hi,

Thanks for raising the price. I don't have the answer yet, but if you
aren't in a big hurry, I should be able to get it for you...next week.
I called Mullen's Winston Salem office (which is in my general area),
and they were very helpful. They knew the campaign I was talking
about, but said that the woman who worked on that campaign was on
vacation this week. Murphy must be at work!

They said that she would be in next week and should be able to tell me
what I need to know. So, unless you aren't interested by that time,
I'll try again next Monday. (Even if she doesn't know the particular
bike, I'm sure she can give me a picture and I can track it down from
there. But I can't imagine that she won't know exactly what bike was
used.)

In the meantime, a friend of mine says that he remembers the ad, and
thinks that the bike was a Harley Davidson V-ROD. Here are some
links to pictures of the V-ROD:

http://www.v-rodcolors.com/stock.htm
http://www.cycleworld.com/xp6/CycleWorld/tests/1101_h-d_vrod.xml
http://www.americanmotor.com/news.cfm?NEWSID=1726

It'll be interesting to see if this is the bike. The V-ROD represents
a new family of bikes from Harley, and I can see how an ad company
would use it in a campaign titled "Uncommon Wisdom"--of course, that's
all speculation at this point.

Thanks again for your patience,

Hi!

I finally have confirmation. According to Tory White, the woman
who worked on the Wachovia ads, the bike was indeed a Harley
Davidson V-Rod. (I'll have to congratulate my friend on his
memory!) Ms. White said that she didn't know the year of the bike
for sure, but thought it was from the same year as the ad (2002).
It would either have to be 2001 or 2002, because the V-Rod was
first unveiled in July 2001. Despite the fact that the V-Rod was
revealed in 2001, everything I can find refers to it as a 2002
bike. It is even introduced as a new cruiser in the February 2002
(Volume 7, Number 1) edition of "Motorcycle Cruiser" magazine, so
I feel confident saying that the bike in the ad was a 2002 model.

Ms. White also said that she could email me the picture that was
used in the ad, but that I couldn't redistribute it due to
copyright restrictions. If you would like to see the ad, you can
call Mullen's Winston Salem, NC office at 336-765-3630 and ask for
Tory White. I'm sure she wouldn't mind emailing you a copy for
your personal use. (I'm not comfortable posting her email address
here.)

In addition to the links I posted in my Request for Clarification,
here are some links to articles about and reviews of the V-Rod:

Here is Harley's page on the V-Rod (note that the bike is actually
called the VRSCA V-Rod):

You can find specs for the bike on Page 2 of this article.

"MCNEWS.COM.AU - Harley Davidson V-Rod - Review"
According to this fellow, the V-Rod tops out at 200 kph (124 mph)
and gets there in 15 seconds! There are also specs on page 2 of
this article.

Search Strategy:

In order to find the articles on the V-Rod, I used the following
terms at Google:

harley davidson v-rod

I hope you have as much fun reading the reviews as I did. If you
have any questions regarding my answer, feel free to ask for
clarification. And if you ever get your hands on one of these
machines, bring it by and let me take it for a spin!

It's been a pleasure,
