Dear fritzjun-ga:

I’d be happy to shed some light on your question.

For some time, luxury automakers such as Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Ferrari
and others have marketed a number of vehicles featuring oatmeal colors
combined with a host of other natural tones. Oatmeal, most commonly a
grayish-beige, earthy tone, makes for very sleek, luxurious finish on
both the interior and the exterior of these vehicles. It is
comfortable to the eye, it is compatible with deep exterior finishes
and it appears natural, while remaining somewhat neutral, when applied
to leather interior. Oatmeal, when selected as an interior color, is
virtually guaranteed to compliment almost any other natural earth
tone. Currently, the automaker, Jaguar, is offering a sapphire/oatmeal
combination and it appears to be wildly popular among their customers.
This color may also be combined with a host of equally attractive
natural tones such as Topaz, White Onyx, Zircon, Quartz, Platinum,
Titanium and many more.

Luxury cars, as you probably already know, have offered customized
features for years. In fact, this is one of the many things that make
them so expensive. The oatmeal color seen now in many luxury car
interiors, and indeed on some exteriors, undoubtedly arose from this
“build to the specifications of the buyer” concept. As the number of
requests for earth tones began to increase the automakers responded to
the market trend and started offering the colors as a standard feature
on some models. Because of this, you can go to just about any Jaguar
dealer in the US and tell the salesman that you would like to see
something in Sapphire/Oatmeal (a common request heard by Jaguar
dealers) and he will gladly lead you directly to the latest creation
bearing that combination of colors.

Incidentally, many of the finer luxury car dealers offer delicious
pastries and blended world coffees for you to enjoy as refreshments
while you visit their establishments, but if you insist on having
oatmeal (the breakfast cereal) while you are writing your check, I
have no doubt that they’ll find you some of that too.

I hope your curiosity has been satisfied. I look forward to working
with you again in the near future.

Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga

Hi fritzjun,

Well I came up with a couple of minor connections, none of which
really lead anywhere, but I'll post them here in case another
researcher wants take a shot at this.

There was a character in Amos & Andy named Sapphire Stevens---

Ernestine Wade as Sapphire Stevens
http://epguides.com/AmosandAndy/guide.shtml

There was a different Amos & Andy actress who was involved with Quaker
Oats --

In 1925 Davis sold the Aunt Jemima brand and operation to Quaker
Oats... In the 1950's Jemima took on another new face: that of Edith
Wilson, formerly a star of Amos and Andy and To Have and Have Not, who
served as the touring Aunt Jemima for eighteen years.

Other than that, nothing. Sorry.
