I understand that there are printing opportunities through the White
House. These are printing jobs that total less than $2500.00 per job. How
can I find out about these opportunities. These are NOT GPO bids.

Hi! I'd love to get paid for this, particularly with Christmas
coming, but I think that no one can because, unless I'm mistaken:

1) the figure is actually "over" $2,500; and
2) it is a *proposed* FAR rule change to the existing $25,000 minimum
figure.

The Justice Department has issued several opinions that the Executive
Branch is not required to use the GPO for printing. Both Clinton and
Bush have pushed for using non-GPO printers if it is cost-effective.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has also recommended this.

On Nov. 13th, the Bush administration issued a proposed change to the
Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) that would allow agencies to go
around GPO more easily. The administration is accepting comments on
the proposal for the next month.

You can read about the proposed change in the November 13, 2002
Federal Register at

By the way, opportunities for that $25,000 figure - and the $2,500
figure if the change goes through - are available at <
http://www.fedbizopps.gov/ >

Do you have any specific information, such as a newspaper article,
documenting the "under" $2,500 figure? I'd be happy to investigate
further.

Best regards,
