Hello,

I have been working on chevy engines for some time, and the
answer to your questions depends on a great many factors, but mainly
whether or not your engine is stock.

If it is stock, then your engine idle speed should be around 800,
plus or minus 50, rpm. If your engine is idling significantly lower
or higher than that, you may have an issue in your engine, probably
relating to the vacuum or emissions control systems. In any case,
there is a fantastic website that will provide technical service
bulletins and some service advice for your truck. the web address is:

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/862311_en.html

if this does not work, try:

http://www.alldata.com/

Note that there is a yearly membership fee of $12 should you wish
to access the details of the technical service bulletins. To help you
out, I scanned the _titles_ of the technical service bulletins for the
word "idle" and onyl found one TSB that related to the idle (referring
to a buzzing sound from the automatic transmission at idle).

Finally, I would suggest calling a dealer's service department
(or GMC at 1-800-462-8782) for more advice.

In any case, I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more
info. Good luck!

agawlbb...
I just wanted to inform you that I ran several searches
which produced no usable results. I'm sure others have
researched this, as well, so I wanted you to know that
your question is not being ignored, it may just be that
the information is not available on the internet.
Perhaps someone will have access to a manual with the
information you need. Good luck!
