I am looking for a Christmas book published sometime in the 1950's or 1960's. It is a hard cover book and has stories and poems about Christmas in it. I believe the cover was blue with Santa Claus on the front and at least one of the "stories" in the book was a letter to Santa written by a little boy asking for socks or mittens because he was freezing. What is the title of this book? |

One way to jog your memory about the book's title is to go to Ebay, Amazon, Alibris, or other book sites and search through vintage Christmas children's books. Since you remember what the cover looks like, you just might spot it. (This has worked for me in the past, though it can be somewhat time consuming.) Hope this helps. |

Hello maggiesid-ga: I am entering this as a comment, as I'm not certain that either of these suggestions is the right book. The two closest matches I came up with can both be found at vintage bookseller, Alibris (www.alibris.com). First, Children's Letters To Santa Claus, by Bill Adler, first published in 1967. You can see several copies of this book by typing in that title at Alibris's search engine. The only cover for the book that I can see is white with blue and green print, but there is a notation that other editions of this book may have a different cover. I also tried the search string "Santa stories poems" with Alibris's search engine, and I came up with a book publised in 1945: The Fireside Book of Christmas Stories by Edward Wagenknecht. You can find it by typing in the author's name or book title. There are soft cover and hardcover editions available, but the only reference to color that I found was red for the softcover edition. I hope this is of some help. Sincerely nancylynn-ga |
