please id this film, if possible: it is about a boarding school and the story mostly revolves around one boy and his stay at the school (probably middle school age). they are mostly white, high class, but the kids are mischievous pranksters. in one episode of the movie, there was a pancake restaurant that keeps a record of the largest number of pancakes eaten by one person. if somebody eats more than x number of pancakes in one seating then for the whole day, the restaurant is supposed to provide free pancakes for everybody. the boy gets one of his friends, who is always hungry, to try to win the prize. the hungry boy not only breaks the record, but exceeds it and everybody gets free pancakes that day. another episode the boy is stuck in a language class and he has to classify a bunch of words (noun, verb, etc) in front of the class for the instructor. he cannot do it, but he has a friend who can classify the words. that boy who can, happens to sit in front of the other (main) boy and he ends up signaling to the other boy what each word's classification is by wiggling his ears in a certain way. this may or may not be an american movie. could be british? dont know. i hope that this is enough to work with. thanks in advance! |

This is the only place I could find that mentions that movie. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&safe=off&th=5fdc7051f3764f59&rnum=2 Note the two suggestions made in there. Is either one your movie? |

The film is "The Happy Years" (U.S., 1950). Dean Stockwell starred in it as "Dink" Stover, the mischievous freshman who struggled in Latin class. Don Gift played the role of "Great Big Man," the puny boy whose prodigious pancake consumption earned him the new nickname of "Hungry Smeed." |
