bronze..
What a great resource you are providing to your community! I am sure
your organization provides great resources and support for couples
that truly need it.
One of the challenges of running a non-profit organization is
obtaining the funding required to keep the doors open and provide a
level of service that not only your customers expect, but that you
expect to provide. Writing grant requests, fund raising, and other
activities that take away from your main purpose of helping people,
are all necessary evil. Hopefully, the information I provide for you
here will help make that job a little easier.
The first place I would recommend you visit would be Internet
Resources for Nonprofits
(http://www.ucp-utica.org/uwlinks/directory.html). This is a
collection of over 850 links with information for non-profits from
fund-raising to legal matters, this is a great resource for
non-profits.
Next on your list should be The Association of Small Foundations
(http://smallfoundations.org/). There are over 2,800 foundations
that, have provided approximately $2.24 billion in 130,000 grants.
You can see their member list by state on their web page. They do not
provide contact information to the public of their members and funds,
so your best bet would be to investigate some charity funds that are
local to you and determine if your organization falls within their
focus.
From there, you can click over to The Foundation Center
(http://fdncenter.org/index.html)which also has a searchable database
of funds as well as great information on how to prepare your
applications, grant requests and other important information to help
you get that funding. They have an online subscription-based
directory that lists foundations. You can get very granular with the
search feature of the directory. For example, if you are based in
Oregon, you can do a search for foundations in Oregon that provide
endowments to organizations that provide support for infertile
couples. It is only $19.95 a month to subscribe to the database and
it is rich with groups that want to help.
I wish you luck on your endeavor. You are helping people and I am
sure you will find a resource for funding. If you need any further
clarification, please let me know and I will be more than willing to
give you what you need to help.
Regards,
-THV
