Outlook express does not shut down properly when trying to shut it down. I think this is due to Gain running on the background. It is part of Gator group and I tried all sorts of ways to uninstall Gator including from registry but on rebooting it comes back. How do I completely uninstall Gator? |

Hello, I've been using Ad-aware for months now, and it's removed every piece of spyware/ad software that shareware/freeware/and general surfing has thrown at it. It's free, and it's easy to use, and you'll probably end up uninstalling more spyware than you thought of originally. Glad I could help you out! I'd like to second skermit's recommendation of Ad-Aware. Lavasoft is doing a true public service by taking over support of this tool from its original developer. Ad-Aware has been a critical help in supervising my kids' machine. One small caveat: at least until recently Ad-Aware would complain about an "Alexa" registery entry which is actually put there by Internet Explorer. It's no big deal if you allow Ad-Aware to remove it, but in reviewing the list of things to "cleanse", you might keep this in mind. Alexa software is not installed by IE, and in any case they claim (since 2000) to have reformed practices & not collect personal information. Here's another site that describes Gator and other "malware" offerings: http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm regards, mathtalk-ga |

Wow, talk about timely. Thanks Skermit - I got hit with this darn stuff today and have been having some difficulty ridding myself of it too. Appreciate knowing about Ad-aware. Thanks! And thank you, Mallya-ga for posting the question! |
