My dearest researcher,

Question #1) Please find any/all ASP component(s) to be run on a IIS
(not .NET) server that can send an IM to a user (myself) on any/all of
these services...

1) AIM
2) ICQ
3) Yahoo messenger
4) MSN messenger
5) Jabber (check my profile for a separate, related question)

Why? When certain things happen on my site (coded by me in ASP), I
want to be notified via my IM client.

Question #2) (Required ONLY IF there are no resources for Question
#1)...

Please supply sample source code (if possible/exists) to send MSN
Messenger IMs via a .NET server.

Are you on your own server? Because if you are on an ISP, it is very
possible that the ports are blocked for anything except web, ftp, and
email.

Yes. My hosting company will install 3rd-party ASP components.

Perhaps the "any/all" is making this question sound more involved than
it is. I'm not looking for anything comprehensive. "Any/all" means
that if you found even one component that talked to just one IM
network, I'd still be glad.

I know it's not very much, but here's a start:

http://www.icq.com/api/

If this has what you need for ICQ, your best bet would probably be to
write a COM component (in VB or what have you) which interfaces with
the API, and use that in your ASP page.

Good luck. You might want to hound the fine folks at Trillian
(www.trillian.cc) and ask them how they did it!
