Where can I find reasonable quality dvd-r media which costs around a dollar a disc? I would like to buy a spindle of around 100 or so. I would like to play the dvd-r on my dvd player. Thanks. |

Hi, Ebay http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=dvd+disks and Ubid http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=601182440 are generally good bets for finding good quality reasonably priced disks. I've used Ubid and been satisfied with the product and I know others who've ordered from Ebay with no problems. I've found the prices are generally better on Ubid. If you'd rather not deal with the auction format, you can try http://jazz.zoovy.com/category/media.blank_dvdr/ http://www.beststore4u.com/ There are plenty of places to find them around that price. Search terms: dvd-r discs Check to make sure that you get the format you need. There are dvd-r, dvd+r and dvd-rw. The rw are a bit more expensive, but you can erase and rewrite on them. The read only can only be written to once. If you just plan on recording for a music or movie collection, it doesn't matter, but if you decide to use them for data storage it might be important to you. Regards, bcguide-ga |

Answered the question but not completely. Did not say which inexpensive brands are safe bets for dvd-r quality. |

Which brands of DVD-R work best depends on your DVD recorder and the drive you plan on playing it back on (very much the same as it is with cheap CDRs) Good places to check are www.vcdhelp.com and www.avsforum.com. They have compatibility lists as well as searchable forums (just enter your DVD burner and see what comes up). Regards calebu2-ga |
