<In the year 2000 internet gambling revenue was $2.2billion.
In 2001 revenue was $3.5 billion
It is estimated to grow to $10 billion by 2005.
There are approximately 1800 gambling web sites.
As of April 2002 there were 18.2 million users (Source:Jupiter Media
Metrix).
Most of the online gamblers live in the U.S.

Internet gambling is legal in the following areas:
Isle of Man
This is a government licensing system and one of the strictest
licensing systems in the world. The backgrounds of casino operators
are thoroughly checked out. They must deposit £2 million to guarantee
payouts. To date only 2 casinos have met their strict criteria.

The Caribbean and other small countries like Antigua, Cook Islands,
Curacao, Dominican Republic, Gibraltar, Grenada, Kahnawake Mohawk
Nation and St. Kitts.

Australia – government licensing system.

In the U.S.A. internet gambling is illegal in most states with the
exception of Nevada

<In many European countries there are restrictions over the
geographical areas where a license for an online casino is valid. For
example an operator in France can only deal with players in France.
The link below leads to a description of the situation in Europe.

There is legalised gambling in a number of Asian countries but online
casinos aimed at these markets tend to be operated outside of Asia.
Asian countries are for example being targeted with gaming operations
run in the The Commonwealth of Dominica. The link below gives details
of which countries have casinos. >
