Ottoman Ambassadors
I find myself rather ignorant on this... I want to know the names of
the Ottoman Empire's ambassadors to the main powers of the world for
the period 1910-1920, their ages and dates of appointment, but I am
not sure they are going to be called ambassadors - its possible some
other title may have been used, based on the historical reluctance of
the Sultan & Caliph to consider other European nations equal enough to
require his representation to them - until at least the Napoleonic
period I think it was expected that the other nations would come to
Constantinople. I am assuming that this changed in effect during the
nineteenth century (if so, when ?) and that by the early twentieth
century the Ottoman Empire was as established in overseas embassies as
other countries were. If so, I require the names, age, date of at
least the ambassadors to Germany, Austria, Russia, France, Britain,
Italy, Sweden and the United States. Did they have any representation
outside the great powers and immediate neighbours - eg in China ? And
if a potted history of any interesting individuals who may emerge from
the study could be provided I would be most grateful.
As ever I will tip generously in percentage terms for a very full
answer. Please do not answer unless you can give at least the majority
of the basic information !
