i am looking for a reference to Blue Group (a government group)and
couldn't find it in the Google advanced search. It would probably be
in the State Dept. or Defense. Thanks

It seems that it is a common practice in government conferences,
symposia, and the like for attendees to break-out into groups named
for colors, such as the "Blue Group". I found several references to
such groups, though not for the State or Defense departments.

Could you provide more information about the group you're looking for?
Do you know approximately when it met? Do you know something about
what it did? Where did you hear about this group? Any information
you can provide might be helpful.

I asked you to find any reference to Blue Group with respect to the
government. It has to do with intelligence and this word and has
appeared in various books but unfortunately, I don't have the quote.
That is why I have come to you. If it appears in books, it can't be a
matter of national security. If we can get quotes on poetry, we should
be able to find "Blue Group." I had no idea this would be so
difficult. I am sorry for the inconvience but persistence might pay
off. I know that there was even a reference in the "OP ED" page in
"The New York Times" referring to Blue as a paticular designation for
intelligence groups. See what you can do. Thanks so much.

After extensive searches of the Internet and newspaper archives, I
have found these few references to what may be the "blue group" you
are seeking.

"The Pentagon is in the initial stages of studying lessons learned
from the Afghan campaign.
The Air Force's Checkmate and Navy's Deep Blue groups are looking at
initial data to determine what can be learned for future wars. For
example, the Deep Blue group is developing a five-year plan for the
Navy to maintain readiness and fighting capabilities in the war on
terrorism."

Checkmate

warfighting concepts

"Admiral Stavridis is currently director of the Navy Operations Group
(Deep Blue) on the Navy Staff in the Pentagon."

"Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark recently published his
vision for the future. The following is the final installment of the
CNO's Guidance for 2002.
"*Employ the Navy Operations Group to develop innovative maritime
operational concepts that enhance support to the global war on
terrorism. (N3/N5)"

If this seems to be the group you were seeking, please let me know and
I'll post it as an answer. If not, I'm afraid I've no further ideas
about how to find your elusive and very covert group.
