There is no scheduled ferry service between Moss and Larvik. The only
domestic ferry service calling at Moss is the Moss-Horten Line, run by
Bastø Fosen (http://www.basto-fosen.no/). Larvik is around 50 km
southwest of Horten, a 45-minute drive along road 19 and E18.
Most of the information at Bastø Fosen's website is only published in
Norwegian. The Schedules for July 2003 are not yet available, but the
current crossing time is 30 minutes, and the ferries depart every half
hour in the daytime (which is unlikely to change much). Reservations
are not possible. The current fares can be found at
http://www.basto-fosen.no/takst_fom_0110_02.html#eng. The one-way
fare for an ordinary vehicle (up to 5 meters length) including the
driver is NOK 72, extra passengers cost NOK 28 each. Senior citizens
(aged 67 years or older) get a 50% discount for passengers, but have
to pay the full fare for the car+driver. The total one-way fare for a
car with driver and one senior citizen passenger will be NOK 86,
around US$ 12.
Search strategy:
I am living in Norway, and have access to the authorative "Rutebok for
Norge" (http://www.rutebok.no/produkter/rbn.html), which is a
compilation of all Norwegian boat, train, bus and airline schedules.
After having checked that the requested ferry service does not exist,
I went straight to Bastø Fosen's website, which was already known to
me. |
