Hello,

I'm looking for an easy to setup as well as a good quality proxy
server. I'm new to these, so I have no clear requirements. :-)

OS is RedHat.

Hi Lizardnation,

Good day and thanks for your question. Nice to see you back :)

Apache is the best server (be it HTTP, FTP or Proxy) to suit your
needs. Apache is the world's most famous web server with over 90% of
websites using it. Its I'm assuming you have Redhat 8.0 It has a
really good GUI and that makes configuration all that easier. You can
get the 8.0 distribution from http://www.linuxiso.org

To enjoy the benefits of running a proxy server, you don’t need to
spend thousands of dollars on specialized hardware and software. Using
the freely available open source Apache Web server, you need only a
little time and an inkling of how to set up your proxy server. On an
older P350, Apache was set up to work as a proxy, from start to
finish, in roughly a half hour.

Although Apache comes bundled with Redhat, I suggest you download
the latest version at http://httpd.apache.org/ They have fixed a
number of security bugs. A sequence of steps for installing Apache as
a proxy server can be found at
http://zope1.devshed.com/zope.devshed.com/Server_Side/Administration/ApacheProxy/page1.html

The more commonly used proxy server is Squid, but thats used only
because people are not aware of Apache's proxy server capabilities.
More about Squid at http://www.squid-cache.org/ If you want more on
squid, I can provide information.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any clarifications,
then please don't hesitate to ask

Thank you for using this service and have a nice day

Warm regards,

Just wanted to add, if it's really a NAT you're looking for (as
opposed to a more complicated to set up 'proxy' server), you may want
to take a look at:
