I am after a visual web architecture for Amazon.com or some other
large e-Shop, then the same for a small e-Shop, in order to compare
the two. It is very important that I get a graphical representation!

Do you mean you are looking for the software/sourcecode for such
programs? If so, does it matter to you whether the software is
propietary or opensource?

I am after two website architecture diagrams - just a jpeg or other
picture format of the architecture itself (servers/resources etc)

One for amazon.com (or similar 100,000+ item commerce site) and one
for a small business with only 100 or so products. Just to contrast
the two architectures.

Hi, Dontam.

I spent a little time trying to locate something for you on this, but
as I expected, didn't have any luck finding anything.

The problem is that large companies such as Amazon treat their
information architectures as proprietary information, and are unlikely
to post something like this publicly. These things are also incredibly
complex, and they often won't fit, even at a fairly high level of
detail, in a single, readable diagram.

It's possible that this sort of thing may exist for small,
template-driven e-commerce sites similar to Yahoo Shops, for example;
but even if they do exist, that would only answer half your question.

I certainly don't mean to discourage other researchers from trying to
find what you're looking for, but if you don't have any luck with this
angle, you may have better luck rethinking the question. For example,
if you're looking for a description of how e-commerce websites are
architected for scalability, that might get you an answer that would
serve your needs.

Sorry I wasn't able to help you.

I don't mean to post endless clarifications, but on looking at your
clarification again, I just noticed that you mentioned servers and
resources.

I'd assumed, because of the terminology you used in your initial
question, you were looking for information architectures of e-commerce
sites; but your comment indicates that you may be looking for network
diagrams.

Could you clarify exactly the type of information you're looking for,
please?

Thanks.
