Question ID: 108983
I am looking for the Thiele-Small specifications for the woofer used
in the Cerwin Vega E-312 floor standing tower speaker or the E
Series-2 312. The LS-12 is likely similar, but not identical, though
I will take LS-12 woofer specifications -IF- it can be proven that the
woofers are identical to the 312 woofers.
The specific specs that I am looking for are:
Sensitivity (SPL for 1W @ 1 meter)
RMS Power Handling in watts
Frequency Response
fs (free-air resonance)
Qts (total Q)
Qms (Mechanical Q)
Qes (Electrical Q)
Vas (Compliance Volume)
Xmax (maximum excursion either peak to peak or one way)
Volume Displacement of woofer @ Xmax

The most important parameters are:
fs, Qts, Qms, Qes, Vas, Xmax

I have e-mailed Cerwin Vega but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Cerwin Vega responded. I am told that they cannot release the T/S
specs for the woofer in question because it was designed to be sold in
a cabinet with other drivers, as a system. Not sure if there is any
other way to get a hold of the specs, but if there is, I don't know
it.

Have you tried contacting an authorized repair agent for these
speakers? The repair manual may well have the nominal specs for the
speaker's performance, and if you are friendly with a stereo repair
person they may give you the information. (I imagine a lot of this
information is released to repair shops on the condition that the
shops do not release it to consumers.)

No I haven't, but that's not a bad idea. I'll see if I can find any
hole-in-the-wall shops that service CV stuff here in the Worcester, MA
area.

If you make it down to Providence, check out a place called Public
Sound, on South Angell St. in Wayland Square. I don't know much about
them but they do repair a lot of brands. They might be able to help
you.
