Durham, NC - Alternate driving routes home from work.

I would like an alternate route to the intersection of Duke St. and Main St. in
Durham, NC from every exit on I-40 and the Durham Freeway (147) between the
Harrison Ave. exit on I-40 and the  Duke St exit on the Durham Freeway.  Please
include a route from each of the endpoints.

The alternate routes should not use either I-40 or 147.  The alternate routes
may overlap.  I would like to be able to get off the limited access roads at any
point between work and home in the event I encounter traffic congestion.

What are some alternate driving routes that avoid either I-40 or the Durham
Freeway between I-40, exit 287 in Cary NC, and the intersection of Duke St. and
Main St. in Durham NC?  For each exit of I-40 between exit 287 and the Durham
Freeway (147), and for each exit of the Durham Freeway between I-40 and the Duke
St. exit, I would like a route to the intersection of Main St. and Duke St..

A sample of two routes would be:

**Duke St. exit, Durham Freeway**

Merge on to Duke St.
N on Duke St 0.5 miles.

**Roxboro Street exit, Durham Freeway**

R onto Roxboro from the exit
N on Roxboro 1 mile
turn R and go W on Morgan 0.5 miles

and are correct to the best of my knowledge, though they do not take into 
account current road construction.  In places where there were two exits very 
close to one another (such as exits 284a and 284b on I-40 – Airport Blvd.) I’ve 
used the exit that seemed to be the most useful.  I’ve tried to be as 
comprehensive as possible, but do not live in the Durham area and so if I’ve 
inadvertently missed an important exit please post a Request for Clarification 
at the end of your question letting me know and I’ll track it down.

the region.  I do not currently live in North Carolina, but did for many years
