Hello, I want two dollars. In this day in age, people don't think a dollar is much. If I had a simple way to match inflation through investing, here's what I could have accomplished with your $2.00: If you gave me $2.00 in 1913, today I would have $36.26 which is enough to buy a DVD, some soda, and a a nice fast-food dinner for me and a friend. A nice night in eh? If you gave me $2.00 in 1950, today I would have $14.90, which is still a ticket at the movies and a large popcorn and drink. If you gave me $2.00 in 1975, today I would have $6.67 which is still enough for a combo meal at any fast-food restaurant. So if I take your two dollars, and keep it in an investment account which keeps up with inflation, I can expect to make good use of it in the future... Or, I can just use it now to get me some candy. Yum! Unfortunately, Google Researchers only receive 75% of the question fee. So skermit only received a buck fifty. |

If nospoon had given skermit $2 in 1913, both would either be dead or gaga today. |

hailstorm, the fact that the dollar amount in question equaled what the answer was worth to the asker may have been coincidental . It must have been worth a dollar and a half to the researcher to state that he would indeed like two dollars. |
