By material, do you fabric? Or do you mean the tools used to make the
shirts? It's unlikely there's a source online that analyses the fabric
used in men's shirts...especially since it varies according to
quality. For example, high end men's shirts are usually silk and
cotton. Low end are usually polyester blends. Techniques also vary
according to quality.

Which quality level are you interested in?

Hi, yes by material I do mean fabric as well as the tools used. I
need the entire process from start to finish. I am interested in the
higher end quality such as cotton and silk.
Thanks

Thanks for asking.

Surprisingly (to me), online information about the dress shirt
manufacturing process is rather scarce. However, I have located a pair
of illustrated websites, describing automated shirtmaking technology,
plus several additional descriptions of the process. I have also
included links to online directories of apparel manufacturing
equipment. You may obtain additional information about the machinery
and equipment used in manufacture directly from the individual
manufacturer's websites listed in those Directory pages.

To explain a bit about Google Answers services, Answers are provided,
in the Answers space, by approved Google Answers Researchers. You are
charged the amount you bid when an Answer is posted. You are only
charged once per question. Your satisfaction is fully guaranteed.

However, not every question attracts an official Answer. The Comments
section space may be used by either approved Researchers (like my
colleague kriswrite-ga) or simply other registered users of the Google
Answers site (other Askers, for instance) to offer help of advice.
You are not charged for Comments, and Researchers are not compensated
for Comments. Sometimes, a Researcher might not find enough
information to qualify as a complete Answer, and yet will graciously
offer that information as a Comment, at kriswrite-ga has done. A
second or later Researcher may have individual knowledge in the
subject are, or a different search strategy, and will later post an
official Answer, as I have done.

I hope this explanation will help clear up any confusion.

I would recommend the book "Shirtmaking" by David Page Coffin (here's
the book's link at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1561582646/qid=1037674129/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-3770465-9858513?v=glance&s=books
). In it, you will find a chapter on quality shirt materials, as well
as techniques for custom made shirts for men and women. This is not,
however, about mass-made clothing; it focuses more on the highest end
custom shirts.

Hope that's helpful,

Is that the final answer? I thought I would be getting a least a page
of research for 20.00.
