I would like to find a complete list of ALL Canadian Television
Broadcasters
who have received licenses from the CTRC (both those broadcasters who
are currently on air and those who are not)? I need a complete list
that includes the following information:
- name of broadcaster;
- who the broadcaster is owned by;
- key contact individuals at the broadcaster;
- contact information (address, phone number and email);
- the Canadian content parameters they were required to meet in order
to obtain their license;
- their programming focus (drama, comedy, documentary, shorts, etc.).
I have approach the CRTC already and I'm waiting to hear back from
them. I am looking for other sources that can provide this complete
information.
With thanks... |

When you say "broadcaster," do you mean individuals who are on the
air, or the stations themselves?

Hi. I don't mean newscasters (as in people who read the news), but
rather broadcasters, as in stations who have been granted a license by
the CRTC to broadcast content. There are three kinds in Canada -
terrestial (free, like TVO and CBC), cable (the ones you get when you
subscribe to a cable package) and digital (very new and also available
via digital cable packages). Most broadcasters are owned by someone
else. For example, CTV owns a number of broadcasters across the
country, so does Alliance Atlantis.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I should have stated
this in my original question, but I need the information by Wednesday
morning.
Thanks

If I can answer your question with information on the CRTC website, is
that acceptable? Or do you only want information from non-CRTC
sources?

The Broadcasting and Cable Yearbook lists more than 230 of these
stations. It appears that we may have missed your deadline. They
take up a little more than 9 pages in the yearbook (with full contact
information). They wouldn't include licensees without operations.

Do you stil want the data? Your deadline is passed. Does that mean you
are no longer interested?
