I would like to know which International Newspapers, offering
Internet Editions are read by the most people not native to America
currently living in the USA. Please rank by readership and media
source. Also, which International Internet publications are the most
popular with readers currently living in the USA that are viewed in
their native
language? Demographic info about both English and other languages
would be very helpful. Any other information about how foreign
individuals get their
news from home while in the USA would be very helpful. |

I am asking about international, regional newspapers that have online
versions. As you know it is dificult to get timely physical newspapers
shipped from overseas to readers here in the US. A good number of
people who are either immigrants, or who have family and friends still
living or working in forign countries tend to read these
"E-newspapers" daily to stay informed about what is going on at home.
To that end, I want to know which of these "e-newspapers have the
largest readership of individuals accessing these on-line newspapers
from the US. Please be as detailed as possible. Please rank these
e-newspapers by hits to their site from US IP Addresses (if possible).
Also, please rank as many of these e-newspapares as possible,
including their URL's.
I hope this clarifies my question.
Thanks

Hi chris1387,
Your question is quite interesting and, I must say, challenging. It is
my personal opinion that the popularity of the online versions of
international newspapers itself would depend upon the demographic
break-up of the readers within the United States. For instance, one
can reasonably say that, given a large proportion of international
students in US universities tend to come in from China, Korea and
India, a sizeable portion of traffic would correspondingly go towards
news sites from these countries. In this context, are you referring to
popularity amongst similar news sites catering to a particular segment
of the audience you describe? For instance, two independent news sites
catering, say, to the Chinese immigrants can vie with each other for
readership.
That said, a preliminary search effort gave me a list of "widely read
papers" as claimed by the site. It is, by no means, anywhere close to
the accuracy you have desired for, but I should think that it does
give a good idea of the most popular news sites within the respective
segments of people of non-US origin living in the United States.
A quick summary gives BBC News, Christian Science Monitor, China
Daily, Korea Times, Middle East Times, Times of India, China Morning
Post, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, The Irish Independent amongst
others.
Sorry, that's all I could come up with. But if you think I'm on the
right track, I can perhaps dig up some more.
Regards.

Greetings,
You are on the right track, however I too have already come up with
the on-line papers that you have mentioned (and many more). I was
hoping that there may be some independant organization that tracks the
readership of these type of online newsparers and compiles statistics
about them. Simmilar in the way that the AC Neilson company tracks
and rates Radio and television listenership and viewership.
If you feel that you may only be able to compile a list of
International on-line newspapers, I have already done that. I was
hoping that Google Answers may be able to provide at least some kind
of basic demograhpic about each of the more popular International
Newspaper sites. That is why I had bid $100.00 for this information.
Please let me know if you think you may be able to assist me beyond a
list of on-line newspaper sites. If not, I would like to thank you
for your assistance. If this is the case, please let me know how, or
who I need to contact in order to not be charged the $100.00 for my
question.
Again, please let me know if you might be able to help further.
Thanks
Chris

Hello,
Yes, I agree that there should be a correlation between foreign
inhabitants and readership of a particular set of country specific
International on-line newspapers. If you would like to take the tact
of looking at the various alien population groups within the US and
then work backwards to identify what set of e-newspapers might be of
interest to those groups that would be fine. However, that still
leaves us not knowing, for example, which of the 20 or so Brazilian
on-line newspapers is the most read or preferred within the US
Brazilian community. If you would like to go down that path, I would
see that as being very helpful.
Thanks
Chris
