Good morning!
According to the FAQ at CAledonian Express, a UK credit information
service, if an account has a default notice sent (the equivalent of
being sent to collections in the US), it must, under the UK's Consumer
Credit Act, be removed from the consumer's credit file after 6 years.

The first step for anyone trying to get their credit sorted out is to
obtain a copy of your credit report. Your friend can obtain a copy of
her UK credit report through any of these sites:
"CheckMyFile.com"

"Free UK Credit Report"

"Graydon UK"

For more information about credit issues in the UK, including how to
repair one's credit, the UK Mortgage and Loan company provides a
complete FAQ, as does Caledonian Express:

"Caledonian Express"

Best of luck!
