Question ID: 110448
I recently installed satellite internet connection (Direcway 2way
asymetrcal) and have a firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro). I have been trying to
install Netscape 7.0
with Sun Java 2. I have never succeeded in installing Netscape 7.0
although the Sun Java 2 did install. I am using Windows 98SE, with
Intel Celeron 500mhz. I have 256 MB of Ram and Gigabites to spare on
my harddrive. I am using IE 6.x. Unawares to me, somehow scripting has
been disabled. I am unable connect to any script driven window for
more than a minisecond. It starts to load and then immediately
disappears. It doesn't matter what application I'm using, even trying
to use my hotmail passport connection it happens. If I attempt to open
a link to additional information, if it is Java driven, this happens.
I feel it is a problem in the Browser (IE)but when I attempt to link
to a Micro Soft site from their web site the same thing happens. I
can't get support from them. Can you help. Thank you, nardo.

The answer to this problem is, I accidently discovered, I had added an
erasing type application that offered to remove "pop-up ads". Without
hesitation I enabled this option. What I later found out was the way
the program removed "pop-ups" was by blocking ALL Javascripting. When
I disaabled this option, my problems were solved. the program was
named "iClean". Beware of easy ways to stop pop-ups. I appreciate all
of your help.

You can adjust scripting properties in internet explorer, in the
internet options, under Advanced. I hope this helps!
