Hello. The Enviromental Protection Agency recommends three methods of emergency drinking water disinfection (other than boiling and iodine). The three methods are: (1) Chlorine bleach (2) Granular calcium hypochlorite. (3) Chlorine tablets For more information about these methods, visit the EPA web site: http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw000/faq/emerg.html The Clorox company has more information about the bleach method: http://www.clorox.com/health/disaster/disaster5.html Dozens of online retailers sell chlorine tablets for emergency water purification. A couple of these are: Redi-Chlor: http://www.readychlor.com/ LifeSystems Chlorine Tablets, sold by various retailers such as Country Trails UK: http://secure.countrytrails.co.uk/TRAVEL_GOODS_Water_Purification_5.html search strategy: "disinfection of drinking water" I hope this helps. | |
