Greetings prpro-ga,
I'd be glad to help you with this.
My search has located a highly-rated, well known antenna specifically
designed for the purpose you have suggested. The Yagi directional
antenna focuses transmit and receive signals in a specific direction.
They are best used for fixed locations such as homes, offices, farms
and remote locations trying to reach far away cell sites. I have found
a site that has several different models of Yagi antennas for sale and
in stock. Prices range from $99.95 to $114.95 depending on the type of
antenna and the installation equipment included. The company offering
these products is called AlternativeWirless.com. The exact url to the
antennas is: http://www.altwireless.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=altwire&Category_Code=antYagi
My search on your second need has resulted in a very interesting,
pretty cool product offered by Vox. This device, called a Vox-Link
Cell Phone/Land Line Integrator is exactly what you need! You did not
mention the model of your cell phone, but this Integrator supports
three major brands: Motorola, Nokia and Ericsson. The retail price on
this item is $199.99 but this website has it on sale for $146.44. The
url for this product is:
http://www.twacomm.com/Catalog/Jmp_Vox2/Product_brand.htm?SID=DRGDBGNTBKNN9KL8BX9HSPJU9U3A2TSE
My first search strategy involved using google.com with the following
keywords: cell phone signal antenna
The url for this search was:
My second search strategy involved using google.com with the following
keywords: cell phone land line
The url for this search was:
I hope this helps in your work. If you have a cell phone that isn't in
the list of compatible devices, followup with a clarification request
and I'll do my best to locate another compatible device.
Best regards,
~mosquitohawk-ga |

Thanks, mosquitohawk! My phone is a Motorola V-Series phone; the list
of supported devices for the Vox-Link (which is exactly what I was
seeking!) does not include this product. I tried to contact Vox, but
their line is disconnected ... ;-( Any other leads for my phone
"mate"?

Unfortunately prpro-ga, Vox2 does not yet support the Motorola
V-series.
They do have a large list of supported phones, and according to their
site are working on new technologies to add in the future. You can
find a list of currently supported phones at
http://www.vox2.com/index.cfm?contentID=189
That is the homepage of the Vox2 technology and also contains links to
retailers who currently sell their product.
I have been unable to locate any other manufacturer of a similar
technology...I'll keep looking, but in the interim, if you're really
wanting to go with this plan, I would suggest purchasing a cellular
phone that is supported. Of course, this adds more $$$ to your plan,
but right now seems to be the only available option.

Mosquitohawk, did you ever hear from Vox? I hesitate to try their
stuff because they don't seem to be in biz anymore!
