Greetings! My client is running Windows XP and Office 97. She does an email merge with Word and Access, and for each message an Outlook Express dialog box pops up and asks if she wants to send the email. We turned off "Warn me when other applications try to send mail as me" under Tools, Options, Security and it's still doing it. We set the security in the Internet zone to "Low" (and changed the corresponding option in the Security tab) and it's still doing it. Help!! Thank you in advance! | |

Distressingly, it appears that you can't actually fix this! It is behavior that the newsgroups mention repeatedly caused by security features in Outlook. If you use plain text, you will get the problem you describe. If you send in HTML format, the warning message will go away, but hyperlinks will not appear properly in the message at the receiving end. To read up on this, do a Google Groups search using: "email merge" plain warning From the results, select the thread entitled Email Merge in the microsoft.public.outlook group. The discussion of this issue starts about halfway into the thread. Thre are other threads discussing this, but this one is the clearest. Here is a link to a site quoting Microsoft Support confirming this. See the second section that is titled March 2002: http://anacorteshelpdesk.com/oldnews.htm I am sorry that I cannot give you better news on this. If you don't have any embedded hyperlinks, perhaps HTML format would work for you. - Hammer |
