Hi,

You can find some manufacturers and suppliers at this link,
http://www.sourcerer.co.uk/asp/ChemicalDetails.asp?txtChemid=000915600

If you are looking for similar information as that provided here,
please indicate accordingly so that I can return to you with a

Thank you for the web site of the Sourcerer and the four companies it
provided. But my gut tells me that the companies represent wholesale.

I am looking for a bottle or two for the medicine cabinet. I was
often given it when I was a child. It worked wonders on the mucus.
Perhaps that is why it is so hard to find. Too much of a good thing!

Forgive me for not being clearer.

bigtee,

Chances are the medicine you were given was Elixir of Terpin Hydrate.
This particular product is no longer available as the FDA, as
pinkfreud has pointed out in her comment below, determined it was
ineffective as an expectorant as a single treatment, or, in other
words, without additional medication included.

I thank each of you for your efforts in trying to solve my Terpin
Hydrate question.

If you should ever have a bad cough in your travels, and should come
across Terpin Hydrate try it. It may surprise you by its
effectiveness on mucus.

Again, thanks for your help.

"...in the early 90s, the FDA came to the conclusion that terpin
hydrate really was not an effective product and had it taken off the
market."

Actually, terpin hydrate is available as an ingredient in some over
the counter medications and terpin hydrate with codeine is still
prescriped and mixed by pharmacies. Elixir of Terpin Hydrate, fondly
known as GI Gin because of the high alcohol content, was removed.

Bigtee, are you looking for Terpin Hydrate as a stand alone medication
or OTC medications that have terpin hydrate as an ingredient?
