I want to have a .gif file that makes it look like I am shaking hands
with Pope John Paul II. I would submit a picture of myself. I want
fast turnaround (this PM if possible.)

Can you post an URL to the possible picture(s)you would like to be
used? This would help us, as it would give us a photo position, and
help determine the feasibility of doing it.

Go to www.demseyfilliger.com and click on the biographies page. I
would like to use that picture (The one of me, T. Louis Filliger.) It
doesn't have to be of me shaking hands, it could be of the Pope with
his arm around me, or with the two of us standing side by side.
Whatever's easiest as long as it looks like we are together.

Thanks,
Lou Filliger

Lou,

I was going to pass this by, until I noticed that one of my best
former customers was doing the asking.

Is this the sort of thing you have in mind? I can do additional work
on this until it meets your needs. If there's anything you'd like me
to change, please request clarification before rating me. I'll be glad
to tweak it until it's just right.

Ooops. The file I gave you is not a .gif, as you requested, but a .jpg.

Here is the same image in .gif format:

Lou,

Unfortunately, Google Answers does not permit email exchanges between
researchers and customers. If you could post your full-body image
somewhere on the Web, and post a link so that I can obtain it in that
way, I'd be glad to use it.

Pink - am arranging to have the jpeg put on a web server and then I
will come back on with the URL as soon as I know it. By the way,
please upgrade the price on this question to $20. thanks

Lou,

Thanks for offering to raise the price to $20. You are most generous.
Although the price is set in stone now that I've posted an answer, a
customer is permitted to "tip" the researcher during the ratings
process. This is by no means required, of course.

Pink - the full body pic is at

Thanks very much. Tip will be forthcoming

Got it.

Is there a target time by which you need this? Let me know what the
deadline is so I can prioritize things at my end. Starting over with a
large color image is going to take a while, and I want to make sure I
get this to you in time for whatever interesting purpose you have in
mind. ;-)

Pink - I would like it within 2 to 2 1/2 hours from now, if possible.
I would be happy to increase the tip for such a quick turnaround.

I also want to thank sgtcory's efforts. I wasn't aware of the
protocol for two people answering at once but you both deserve
something for this.

Regards,
Lou Filliger

Here's a color version, using your larger image:

http://www.mortalwombat.com/Special/Lou&Pope_v2.gif

Since the pic of the Pope was rather small, I scaled your photo down
to fit it; if I had tried to enlarge the Pope's photo, it would not
have worked well, since there's not a whole lot of detail there (which
is typical of the kind of news shots where the Pope is shaking hands
or presenting something to someone.)

Any suggestions? I could put it in a nice frame, if you like. ;-)

Lou,

Many thanks for the five stars and the lavish tip! I hope the photo
provides some amazement and amusement for its intended audience!

Stop by again and post another question if you need any more photo
foolery of this sort.

Hmmm... I have some lovely photos of Elvis that are just crying out
for an actuary in the backup band... :-D

Lou,

I emailed the Google Answers staff to ask about sharing the tip with
SgtCory. They say that this cannot be done, but they add "our
suggestion is to post a follow up question specifically for this
Researcher."

Thanks again. I hope your girlfriend was properly astonished.

Lou,

I have posted a $2.00 question that is earmarked for SgtCory. He will
receive $1.50, since a Researcher's share is 75% of the posted fee,
and I will give him a $13.50 tip as soon as he has answered the
question. In this way, he will receive a total of $15, his fair share
of the generous tip you left.

Somehow this is starting to sound like a problem from high school
Algebra. ;-)

Great job by both sgtcory and pinkfreud. Please split the $30 tip
50-50 between them. Lou Filliger

I started working on this before it got answered, so I'll just give
what I came up with to you since I won't be needing it. Here you go:

http://www.sgtsearch.co.uk/i/answers/pope-1.jpg JPEG
http://www.sgtsearch.co.uk/i/answers/pope-1.gif GIF

Not as genuine as I can get it, but it is free ;-) I made it look
unclear on purpose. Maybe pink can fiddle with them a bit more to fix
the neck shadowing, lighting, etc... feel free.

Enjoy!

Pink and Sgtcory - I think we've beaten this horse enough for one day!
Thanks both of you for your expert artwork. You both did a great
job.

By the way, in case you are curious, what inspired this was that my
girlfriend told me some guy showed her a picture of him shaking hands
with Bill Clinton. I said that was nothing, that I'm the Pope's
personal actuary. I just needed a little pictorial proof of the
claim.

Thanks again!

To Pinkfreud, SgtCory, and Google Answers management:

It can't be done! It can't be done!! Is that the corporate mission
statement of Google Answers?

How difficult can it be for a bunch of computer geeks to figure out
how to change the software to permit a tip to be split two ways?

I don't want an explanation - I just want you to change your rules to
allow it.
