I am looking for a published economic indicator that accurately
predicts the future level of the Consumer Confidence Index as provided
by the Conference Board. Of course I would be satisfied here by

1. proof in terms of plotted points by month for a USA national
economic index and the CCI showing the leading correlation.

2. Some linked-to discussion of the nature of the leading indicator.

Note: I am not a subscriber to the Conference Board data, and wish
ideally to find the leading info in the public domain.

3. Some info on how to track the leading indicator.
