For the last 2 season it has been bothering me that I can't figure out
what song is played when Dan Wilson of the Seattle Mariners is at bat.
It's not the "What A Man" song by En Vogue, rather it is a remake of
an older song from the 60's or 70's with sort of a "Western TV Theme
Song" feel to it. In fact, one day I heard the original song on the
radio on an oldies station and the next day at the baseball game heard
the newer version played during Dan Wilson's plate appearance.

I have seached the web high and low to no avail. I really like the
song, but don't know name of it or the artists who perform it.

Please let me know whether or not this is the tune of the song you're looking for:

If that's the song, I can help you. If not, we'll keep looking!

Very quick response, too!

The tune that is often played when Dan Wilson is at bat is "Apache."
The best-known version of this song was a worldwide hit for a British
group called The Shadows in 1960.

Here's a bit of info about The Shadows:

Wanadoo: Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame
http://home.wanadoo.nl/rock_and_roll/shadows.htm

I found a bargain CD (only $5.99!) that contains "Apache" and many
other hits by The Shadows:

CDnow.com

My Google search strategy: "apache" + "the shadows"

I hope this helps! Please request clarification before rating my
answer if anything more is needed, and I'll gladly offer further
assistance.

Best wishes,
pinkfreud

Perfect, thank you! I will definitely rate this answer as a 5, but I
am wondering how you figured it out so quickly....

In answer to your question about how I figured it out so quickly, I
can't really say. I just have a very good memory for song melodies.
I've been able to identify songs ever since I was a youngster. Wish I
could have gotten on the "Name That Tune" show.

"Apache" was a hit when I was in junior high school, so this was not a
difficult tune to recognize. I'm not a big baseball fan, but I have
seen the Mariners play. Great song choice they made for Dan Wilson.

Perfect answer... and so quickly! Even a link to a bargain CD with the
song, what more could you ask for?
