I was wondering what old song Dru Hill ripped when they made their new
hit single "I should be"? I have heard the song before, but I can't
put my finger on it. |

I will define ripped as to mean "changed the words to a nearly identical beat"

I think it's "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister. If you agree, let me know
and I'll post that as the answer.
Thanks,

No, I believe tupac ripped that one. I am thinking of a slightly more
contemporary song. If I recall correctly, the words go "baby are you
ready.... tell me are you ready" in place of "i should be your
boyfriend... i should be your boyfriend." I believe the genre of the
original (if that term is even applicable anymore with all the
take-offs and rips) is urban. Since the cd isnt out yet, I cannot
check to see if dru hill gives the originial artist credit or not. I
appreciate your help in this. I am very interested to see the origin
of this song. Hope this clarification aids you in the process.

I listed this previously as a comment although it should have been a
request for clarification.
Is it "Healing" by Jagged Edge? The lyrics are listed at
http://www.lyricscafe.com/j/jagged_edge/healing.html.

No, I believe it is close, but the song is not "Healing" by Jagged
Edge. If I had to guess the year this song came out, I would say late
80s early 90s. It has a jodeci-like feel to it, but I do not think
jodeci did it. I am thinking it may have been on a movie soundtrack,
but I wouldn't swear to it.
