I am having problems running a dos application under windows 2000
server on a dual xeon 2.4Ghz Intel SHG2 motherboard. The application
is running slower than is acceptable and slower than it did on a dual
PIII 933 server
I require an answer that will allow me to configure the server and or
OS to allow me to run the DOS ap at a reasonable speed. TAME does not
help.

Have you tried pushing CTRL-SHIFT-ESCAPE to bring up the windows task
manager and setting the priority to high or highest? Your other
processes might be fighting for CPU time and this will help nudge
clock cycles to your DOS app's way. You have to do this while the DOS
application is running. Lemmie know if this works, if not I'll try and
think of other things.

Have you set any enviromental variables? FILES, BUFFERS, STACKS?
alot of dos apps get upset if these setting aren't provided. if not,
if you have docs for the software check them for the appropriate
settings, and if not lookup a DOS syntax page for typical settings for
above variables.

I don't have a 2k box infront of me, but usually if you goto
properties of the program shortcut there is a place to set these, also
there is a place you can place them in the advanced tab in system
properties.

much since win98, microsoft has decieved to leave little for
compatability and ease of setup for dos apps.
