Question ID: 111131
I have a PC (Windows XP)and a laptop(Windows 98) in different
locations. I want to either (a) merge the email addresses of the 2
computers on each one of them ( so that at least nothing will be lost
from each computer) or (b) copy the email addresses from the PC to the
laptop.I am presently at the PC for another 48 hours. How is this done
?

What e-mail software are you using? Outlook Express?

I'm not sure I fully follow your question, however, that's never
stopped me from offering advice!

At online email/address book services such as that offered by My
Yahoo!, you can usually import and export email addresses from
different programs, Palm Pilots, etc. So...you can go to yahoo.com,
sign up for My Yahoo, go to the address book section, and follow the
directions for importing and combining your email lists to a single
on-line file, which you can then either maintain on-line (which I
do...it's very convenient) or you can export it to a single address
file on your PC. Best of all, the whole thing is free of charge.

Good luck.

Almost all mail clients have an import/export feature, usually under
the File menu.
If you have the same mail client on both PCs, it should be no problem.
Just export from one and import into the other.
If they are different mail clients (i.e. one's Outlook Express, the
other Lotus) you may have to specify the export to a delimited text
file.
Then when you import into the other client, you will have to map out
which fields are which.
I did this a year ago transferring an office from Lotus Notes to
Outlook.
If you provide which e-mail software you are using, I am sure the
researchers can give you very explicit instructions.

Good Luck!
