Hi,

I'm subscribed to something called "colonize.com" and often when I do
a search I end up at what I presume is one of their sales pages.
Links to unsubscribe don't work and nor does tying the unsubscribe
url.

How can I stop recieving stuff from them and get rid of anything
unpleasent on my system?

Thanks,

Chris

Hello doobydoo,

Q. How can I stop recieving stuff from them?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Colonize has been around for some time, and should honor your request
for removal. I too have been on their lists at some point. They have
several different 'newsletters' that you need to ensure you are
removed from, in order to stop receiving mail from them. Visit the
following sites, and be sure to check all the boxes for removal.

ContentMail offers removal (owned by Colonize)
http://www.contentmail.com/u.php3

Colonize Main mailings removal
http://www.colonize.com/u.php3

If those fail to work within a few days, I would contact them via
their contact page at the site first:

Colonize Contacts
http://colonize.com/contact.html

ContentMail Contacts
http://www.contentmail.com/contact.html

If none of the above seems to work, then you would want to take this
process to the next level, and contact them directly. You can view
their public domain registration information here :

Colonize
http://www.betterwhois.com/complete.cgi?domain=colonize.com&regwhois=whois.networksolutions.com&key=707344

If your problem is still unresolved after doing all of the above, you
can contact a third party service to assist you. Here is a good one :

Spam Cop Reporting Service
http://spamcop.net/anonsignup.shtml

They will send a letter (email) on your behalf to the offending
company.

Q. How can I get rid of anything unpleasent on my system?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By unpleasant I am assuming you are talking about software or items
that are less than desirable, that may have been left behind on your
computer from visiting sites that have been sent to you via email.

There is a product called Ad Aware, that will help you get rid of
*some* of these types of software:

Ad Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Here is a free online virus scan that also detects certain files and
emails that are considered 'worms' and the like:

House Call
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

I didn't use a search strategy as I have run into the same problems in
the past. Should you want to learn more about what to do in situations
like this, you can search Google for these terms,

spam
spam reporting
report spam
spam filter

I hope this helps! Should you need clarification, please ask before
rating this answer, as I would love to be of further assistance.

Thanks for the question -
SgtCory
