Dear ams:

You asked for some good, short, and easy to read articles with
specific tips or guidelines on working in industrial or chemical
plants. I have provided a few sites below, with links to more
resources on the topic.

Adecco Associates has a short list of general industrial safety tips:

Wear proper protective clothing, such as hats, gloves, goggles and
hard-tip shoes at all times.
Obey all signs and labels that alert you to potential hazards on the
job.
Do not lift anything heavier than 50 lbs. without a mechanical aid
and/or other persons.
When using power tools, inspect the insulation on wires and the
condition of plugs daily.
Know the location and operation of all safety switches and devices.
Do not operate a forklift or crane or drive any vehicles in the course
of work unless authorized by your Adecco office.

Dear Ams,
Simply request the 'SAFETY DATA SHEETS' from the company. This will
give you all the information you need from the chemical makeup and
their level of danger to the safty equipment needed to protect
yourself physically to prevent immediate and future health problems.
The federal government requires that this information is available to
you if requested. Of course the company will keep this information on
the down and low. They will not broadcast. Request and they will
supply. They do NOT want to be subjected to investigations, fines and
penalties from the Feds if they do not comply.

If you need further information, please contact me.

Regards,
dakota-ga
