Question ID: 111797
I am looking for a TCL script for an eggdrop bot that runs in IRC.
This tcl script would read rss files(simplifed news web pages)
feed them to an irc channel at set intervals, checking for any newly
posted headlines and posting them at the said intervals. Preferably
this rss tcl isn't old and is still under development. Can you help me
find one?

Hello,

I found a tcl script which reads in an html document and outputs the
plain text of the document (ASCII). Is this what you are looking for?

It is designed in a way that makes it easy for the user to configure
how the program should mark specific html tags. Please let me know if
a link to this script will be sufficient to meet your needs. It does
seem to be well developed and packaged, but am unsure if you are
looking for something to read html pages or rss? (not really sure what
rss is).

See iaint-ga for clarification :)

Iaint-ga, if possible, the script would scan the target RSS feed at a
set interval(five minutes, 10 minutes etc etc) and then only output
any new headlines that have appeared since the last update.

There is no answer at this time.

Hi tuz-ga

I've searched through a couple of the larger eggdrop TCL script
repositories and found nothing at all that deals with RSS. However I
think it would be a particularly useful module to exist and now that
you've put the idea in my head I'm contemplating developing one for a
couple of eggdrops that I run, and if I get anywhere with the
development I'll be sure to let you know. It's many years since I did
any TCL coding, however, so this might not be a 1-hour project!

For my colleague, tisme-ga: RSS (Rich Site Summary) is an XML
specification for newsfeeds, designed to allow news content and
information to be shared between different systems. It's very
different from HTML. For a summary please take a look at
